Four days after he was first reported missing, an 18-year-old Crete resident was found dead under a drain pipe Sunday afternoon, the Will County sheriff’s office said Monday.
Samuel N. Green was last seen Wednesday afternoon on a Ring doorbell camera near his home on the 23800 block of South Plum Valley near Crete, sheriff’s police said. Police reported searching the are, deploying members of the K9 team and using drones with heat signature capabilities.
Police conducted “continuous searches and investigated informational leads to locate him.”
“While an Emergency Management drone team searched from the air, Sheriff’s deputies combed a wooded area near a creek where Samuel was then found,” the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies determined there were no signs of foul play on or near Green.
The Will County coroner’s office reported it performed an autopsy Monday but will not disclose Green’s cause and manner of death until autopsy, police and toxicological reports are completed.
The person who reported Green missing told police the 18-year-old suffered from schizophrenia, paranoia and multiple undiagnosed mental illnesses, and was prescribed medication for his condition but had not received or taken them.
When Green was last seen, he was not wearing shoes, socks or a coat.
