Lucknow police have arrested two individuals allegedly involved in a sophisticated fraud operation that targeted Amazon Pay and Amazon Pay Later customers. The accused, Dhairya Verma and Maruf Asif Kasmani, reportedly accessed customer data through the dark web and the Telegram app, committing fraud worth crores by exploiting their accounts for online shopping.
According to officials, the accused utilised a Telegram bot to bypass account security measures and make unauthorised purchases on various e-commerce platforms.

Recovered items include protein powders, mobile phones, debit and credit cards, and a significant amount of cash, highlighting the scale of the fraud.
Amazon Pay, a widely used digital payment platform, enables seamless transactions on third-party websites, while its Pay Later service offers customers the flexibility of deferred payments or instalment plans. Exploiting these services, the accused executed their fraudulent schemes undetected for months.
A case has been registered against the accused, and further investigations are underway to uncover additional members of the gang and their operational methods. Authorities are also examining how sensitive customer data was leaked and used for such large-scale fraud.
