RCMP are responding to two crashes on Highway 1 eastbound, and drivers should expect delays.

A heavy police presence along Highway 1 through Burnaby and Coquitlam is affecting traffic in both directions on Tuesday afternoon.

It appears there are two crashes on Highway 1 eastbound between North Road and Brunette Avenue.

Multiple police cruisers are stopped in the highway’s eastbound lanes just west of Burnette Avenue.

The second incident is just east of the Gaglardi exit.

Global News has contacted Burnaby RCMP and BC Highway Patrol for more information.

It is unknown if the two incidents are connected.
