Chicago police officers responded to a call of a person shot overnight at an apartment in the Woodlawn neighborhood and discovered a woman injured and a 38-year-old man fatally wounded.
Shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday, police where led to an apartment in the 6600 block of South Champlain Avenue by a woman who had suffered two gunshot wounds to the left arm, police said. A 38-year-old man was found unresponsive inside the apartment with a wound to the chest.
The man was taken to UChicago Medicine where he was pronounced dead. The woman also was taken to the same hospital where she was listed in good condition, police said.
A firearm was recovered from the scene.
Detectives were investigating the circumstances surrounding the shootings.
