A 6-year-old boy was among eight people injured Wednesday evening in a traffic crash involving a Pace bus in the West Pullman neighborhood, Chicago police said.
About 7:20 p.m., officers responded to a traffic crash in the 12700 block of South Halsted Street where a SUV was headed east on Vermont Street and Halsted. The driver disregarded a traffic signal and struck two sedans and a Pace bus, police said.
The driver, 31, and a 34-year-old passenger both were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where they were listed in critical condition. A second passenger, 26, also was taken to the same hospital where he was listed in good condition, police said.
A 27-year-old woman driving the first sedan was taken to UChicago Medicine in good condition, and a passenger, a 6-year-old boy, was taken in good condition to Comer Children’s Hospital.
Two occupants of the second sedan refused medical help at the scene. Three passengers of the bus, three women ages 32, 62 and 66, were taken to Roseland Community Hospital and listed in good condition. And a fourth passenger, a 46-year-old woman was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in good condition, police said.
The Blue Island police department was investigating.
