It was Edmonton’s fifth comeback win in a row, having done it four times straight to vaquish the Los Angeles Kings.
Vegas got up 2-0, and all was well in Vegas, but not for long. On social media Vegas fans, commentators and observers had plenty to say as the Oilers scored the next four goals to win it.

Draisaitl and McDavid get out in space. Corey Perry knows where to go, McDavid got it to him, and the former MVP Perry doesn’t miss those. 2-1 and VGK’s excellent start has been damaged a bit.
Ryan Wallis, Vegas sports commentator @RyanHockeyGuy
Corey Perry nearly gets his second. Once again. He’s dragging the Oilers into the fight.
Pretty good period there for the Golden Knights. Vegas’ top line was excellent. The Oilers got some juice after Perry’s goal. On to the second.

Tough shift in the D-zone for the Roy line with Hague and Korczak. Ends with a Roy penalty and now the penalty kill gets their first look against a hot Oilers PP.
Ryan Wallis, Vegas sports commentator @RyanHockeyGuy
Hill tries to rim the puck out. Doesn’t get there. It’s worked to the slot for McDavid. Adin with a massive glove save.

Great PK by the Golden Knights on the Oilers first power play chance of the series. Hill made a couple nice stops.

Best penalty killer has been No. 33 in goal. Spectacular period for Hill.

Come on Vegas, lets get some offense going

The ice has been tilted for most of the period. VGK needs to get out of the period with the lead.

VGK still have a lead for one reason and one reason only: Adin Hill.

Great play by Draisaitl , he absolutely did that on purpose and it’s a tie game at 2
SinBin.vegas @SinBinVegas
As cheap a goal as you are going to see. Puck bounced up into the air well behind the goal and Draisaitl swats it off Hill and into the goal. It’s 2-2 on a very fortunate one.
The Athletic’s Jesse Granger @JesseGranger_
Leon Draisaitl knocked the puck out of mid air, off Adin Hill and into the net. That was incredible. 2-2.
VGK fan BlueTeamBad🏆 @GoldTeamBad
We are in no danger of a high danger chance. EDM has locked it down defensively.

The Oilers are buzzing. The Golden Knights are… the opposite of buzzing.

Connor Brown barrels over Hill on his way to the net, and the Golden Knights will go back to the power play at 5:58.

VGK get a break on that one as it looked like Howden initiated the contact that forced Brown in. Big chance to regain the lead.

Zach Hyman. 3-2 Oilers. Just a shot from the top of the circle off a typical zone entry. Great shot from Hyman.

What a shot. Shaq Hyman what a snipe. Edmonton just dominating. I said it after the first don’t change a thing. Klingberg with the laser pass up. Gets to Kane what a dish. 3 minutes close it out.

Connor F*cking Brown. Shot out of a cannon and dances Theodore. 4-2 Oilers and this one’s over. Vegas crowd is stunned. What a comeback.

Cassidy went with 4 forwards and 1 defenseman looking for a goal, and Theodore got burned by Connor Brown for a breakaway. He buries it. 4-2 Edmonton with 1:46 left.
Vegas fan Vegas Golden Knights UK 🇬🇧 @uk_vgk
Series far from over but there’s a mountain to climb now.
SinBin.vegas @SinBinVegas
Cassidy goes to a single defenseman look after the Oilers goal. It ended up with Connor Brown skating one-on-one at Theodore and the one defenseman didn’t look great as Brown went right around him and likely iced Game 1.
Post-Game
Vegas hockey site SinBin.vegas @SinBinVegas
1) The top players basically cancelled each other out as Stone scored twice while McDavid and Draisaitl created a pair. VGK’s depth lines looked like they were thriving in the 1st, but it fell apart in the 2nd and 3rd. Battle of the depth goes to EDM in Game 1.
2) Not good at all to win the special teams battle and lose the game by multiple goals.

One game. Knights will make adjustments. But I can’t understand why going post to post in the crease has become such an adventure for Hill. He looks like a fish out of water!
Vegas fan Dezavi @dezavi702
Way too soft from (Vegas wingers) Barbashev and Kolesar as well as everyone else. So many chances to finish checks and grind them down yet they eased off instead. Unbelievable
Vegas fan Quintin Kallenberger @Qkbrgr
Hill trying to play centerfielder and Theo (Shea Theodore) essentially chipping that puck to Brown for the 4th cost that game. If that’s Edmontons best then we’ll be fine. One of the boys’ worst performances offensively and they were still in it.

Cassidy was out coached. Depth doesn’t matter when you play against Draistial and McDavid.

Far from ideal start to the series. Lotta series left but you just get the sense that the Oilers are the much better team this time around. It might be a sweep. #VegasBorn
Vegas fan Director Jonathan L. Bowen @DirectorBowen
I think they’ll sweep us. I didn’t see a single thing that made me think otherwise. That’s an absolute garbage performance and every single person looked confused, outplayed, and frankly clueless. A pitiful effort. To blow a 2 goal lead and lose is awful.
Vegas fan BB @bjorn_burt19571
We look slow and lazy out there. i know the second part isn’t the case but thats how it looks. This was my fears from get go with this team heading into the playoffs that urgency and playing heavy is not there. BTW what’s up with everyone blowing tires every shift out there!
Vegas fan Scott Brunner @scottjbrunner
Fans who have the mindset that VGK are going to get swept after losing Game 1 are so frustrating. Thank goodness the team doesn’t have the mindset of those fans

Vegas player Mark Stone: “Obviously not the outcome we wanted. There were some good parts of the game, some bad parts of the game. We’ll go over it, get ready for Thursday night’s game because it’s going to be a big one for us.”
Vegas Golden Knights @GoldenKnights
Vegas player Brandon Saad: I think we can bounce back. We’re confident in our group, we let that one slip away, which is tough, especially at home. But, for us, I think there’s no panic. It’s just reset and get onto the next.
SinBin.vegas @SinBinVegas
The whole 4 forward thing after the Oilers goal was a mistake I think. In the end it’s really just Connor Brown dancing around Shea Theodore, which I can’t really blame the coach for, but why is Noah Hanifin on this team if he can’t be put out in that situation? … I thought it was a bit of a panic move as Cassidy was searching for anything to find a goal. To me, just wait for the empty net. They have Calvin Pickard in the goal, it only takes one half-chance to get a goal. Instead, they get going the other way and the game is over before we know it. Frustrating to say the least.

This series is far from over. VGK have won from down 0-1 on four separate occasions (WPG, COL, MIN, SJS) and they absolutely can do it again. This one stings, I’m not going to say it doesn’t, and the pressure is really really on for Game 2. But this team won’t roll over and die.
