We’ve all faced travel nightmares but Amy Huberman’s spot of bother when heading Stateside has us feeling stressed just reading about it!
Amy, who stars in the new movie Fran The Man which is playing at the Dublin International Film Festival this year, recently recalled a trip to the US that didn’t get off to the best of starts.
The mum-of-three explained that her brush with the law frightened her as she couldn’t pinpoint exactly what she did wrong.

Chatting with the Independent, Amy was asked straight out ‘What’s been your closest brush with the law?’
Thinking back, she said: ‘I was pulled into a room at the airport once when I landed in L.A. I sat in there convinced I was going to jail, trying to think what on earth infraction I had committed.’
‘After a tense, soul-searching 40 minutes wondering if I could pull off the prison overalls, a cop came in with a sniffer dog and told me to open my bag,’ she said.
Luckily – and perhaps bizarrely – the issue was easily identified and resolved. Amy explained: ‘The police officer proceeded to pull a banana out of my bag.’
As it turns out, visitors are not allowed to bring bananas into the United States with Amy saying she’s ‘absolutely never’ done so since.
Well, we have to say Amy we never thought you had it in you, and as for the orange jumpsuit, it’s a difficult colour to pull off!
