Parekh hit the 100-point plateau Thursday, becoming just the 10th defenceman in Ontario Hockey League history — and only the second in the 2000s — to hit triple digits in a season.

The last to do so was Ryan Ellis in 2009-10.

It’s the second major accomplishment for Parekh in less than a week. He recently joined Bobby Orr as only the second blue-liner in OHL/OHA lore with multiple 30-goal campaigns.

Parekh, who was selected by the Flames with the ninth-overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, is now up to 32 goals and 68 assists in 57 outings this winter with the Saginaw Spirit. It continues to be a head-scratcher that he was left off Team Canada’s roster for the world junior tournament and it’s not far-fetched to think he will be a full-timer with the Flames in the fall.

As Parekh rocketed toward 100 points, the 19-year-old star-in-the-making admitted the 100-point milestone was on his radar. He collected 96 points as a draft-eligible en route to winning the CHL’s Defenceman of the Year award.

“It would pretty special,” Parekh said last month during an interview on Flames Talk on Sportsnet 960 The Fan. “As selfish as it sounds, it’s something that was on my mind last year. Not so much this year, where I haven’t really thought about it, but last year I really wanted to hit that 100-point mark. This year, I’m just naturally letting it come and not forcing anything.

“But if it does end up happening, I think it will pretty cool.”

The Spirit have six regular-season dates remaining. At his current clip, that puts Parekh on pace for 110 points.
