‘Black Panther 3’ Producer Denies Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa Recasting Rumors: “Everything You Read Online Is Not True”​on February 3, 2025 at 10:56 pm

Marvel Studios executive Nate Moore denies the rumors that Black Panther 3 will recast T’Challa in the live-action role Chadwick Boseman originated.

In a new interview, the Black Panther producer said that the superhero role was not being recast following rumors on social media.

“The truth is, there’s no truth to those rumors. Never say never to anything, we haven’t really had a lot of creative conversations with Ryan Coogler yet, because he’s finishing his film Sinners, which comes out this year,” Moore told ComicBook. “We’ll get into it later this year, but everything you read online is not true, if for no other reason than we just haven’t started [working on it].”

Moore is set to depart Marvel Studios in the coming weeks but will continue to work with the studio for Black Panther 3.

Boseman first played the role of T’Challa, appearing in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, followed by the Black Panther feature film in 2018. The actor reprised the superhero role in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War and 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.

Boseman was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016 and died in August 2020. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was released in 2022 and dedicated to his memory. The film picked up following the death of T’Challa.

In November 2024, Denzel Washington let it slip that he is being considered for a role in the third installment of Black Panther. During an interview in Australia promoting Gladiator II, he said that Ryan Coogler was “writing a part for me in the next Black Panther.”
