Bolingbrook crash: I-55 reopens after semi hauling beer rolls over, Illinois State police say​on May 6, 2025 at 6:01 am

A semi hauling beer rolled over on Monday. The crash shut down part of I-55 in the south suburbs.

Most of the northbound lanes of I-55 were shut down after a semi rolled over at milepost 268, Illinois State police said.

WILL COUNTY, Ill. (WLS) — A semi crash shut down parts of Interstate 55 in the south suburbs on Monday afternoon, Illinois State Police said.

The crash happened in the northbound lanes of I-55 at milepost 268, or Route 53, in Bolingbrook, ISP said.

ISP said a truck tractor semi-trailer rolled over.

Chopper 7 was over the scene at about 1 p.m.

It appeared that the semi was hauling aluminum bottles of beer.

All northbound lanes of I-55 were shut down, including one southbound lane.

I-55 southbound reopened at about 12:45 p.m.

All lanes reopened just before 3 p.m.

It is unknown if any injuries were reported.
