Boy arrested after break-in spree faces ‘adult crime, adult time’​on January 25, 2025 at 6:04 am

A 16-year-old boy has been charged after a string of break-ins at businesses across Ipswich and south Brisbane this month.

“Following extensive investigations, detectives from the Ipswich Criminal Investigation Branch executed a search warrant at a Park Ridge address on January 24, where a 16-year-old boy was taken into custody without incident,” a Queensland Police Service spokesperson said.

The boy was due to appear in Ipswich Children’s Court on Saturday, where it will be alleged he was involved in multiple break-and-enters of businesses in Boonah, Springfield, Browns Plains, Springfield Lakes, Brassall and southern Brisbane suburbs between January 9 and 23.

He has been charged with 21 counts of “enter premises and commit”, three counts of receiving tainted property, and one count of stealing.

Break-and-enter is one of 13 offences covered by the Crisafulli government’s “adult crime, adult time” legislation, which was passed last month.
