Calling all cowboys: Red Bull to host ‘rancher fitness competition’ in Fort Worth​on April 10, 2025 at 4:24 pm

FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth will host Red Bull Rancher Strong, a fitness competition featuring elements from rural life to test the fitness of its competitors. 

The June competition will combine “the grit of agricultural life with the intensity of traditional fitness events,” according to a press release from Visit Fort Worth. 

The competition will begin June 7 at the Cowtown Coliseum, located at 121 E. Exchange Ave in Fort Worth, the release states. 

“Designed for athletes of all types, from seasoned ranch hands to dedicated fitness competitors, Red Bull Rancher Strong will showcase strength, endurance, and the unwavering resilience of ranchers in an innovative and high-energy competition,” the release states. 

The event will feature an obstacle course inspired by the everyday tasks of working cowboys and ranchers, the release states. Challenges may include roping, riding and caring for livestock with a fitness twist. One male and one female will be crowned, earning a grand prize, the release states. 

Lance Pekus, known as Cowboy Ninja from American Ninja Warrior, is the Sportive Director for the event and helped design course obstacles, the release states. 

“We’re excited to bring the energy and tenacity of the rancher lifestyle to life through Red Bull Rancher Strong,” Pekus said in a release. “This event will celebrate hard work, toughness, and passion – values that are central to both the agricultural and fitness communities.”

Participants must apply to compete by May 11. Tickets go on sale April 18. 

Red Bull will also offer a fan zone on the lawn outside the Coliseum where attendees can test their own strength with interactive challenges, the release states. 

“We look forward to welcoming the athletes and fans to Fort Worth for what is sure to be an authentic western experience,” Jason Sands, Executive Director for the Fort Worth Sports Commission, said.
