Cavan v Down: Match details, throw-in time and how to watch as both Ulster sides fight to avoid relegation from Division Two

AT the start of the season, you would’ve been forgiven for thinking that these two sides could have been on the other end of the table, surprising teams.

However, at the halfway stage of the season, Down and Cavan find themselves fighting for survival in the second tier of the Allianz National Football League.

Cavan are in a slightly better position going into this clash, sitting on four points after recent wins against Louth and Westmeath.

Their win last time out against The Lake County came through a hard-fought comeback with the help of the wind and some orange flags, with a total of five scored by the Breffni men

Cavan’s advantage is despite Down having the top scorer in Gaelic football in Pat Havern, whose right boot has been loving the creation of the two-point arc, scoring 35 points (including nine two-pointers from play and dead balls).

Close losses against Meath and Louth in their last two outings have led the Mournemen to a troublesome scenario, whereby every game is a final.

The Wee County came out on top in Drogheda last weekend by the slimmest of margins, with Sam Mulroy scoring 10 for An Lú.
