Chicago Auto Show 2025: Runners take on Miles Per Hour Run

On Sunday, runners ran through the McCormick Place for the Miles Per Hour Run for Day 2 of the 2025 Chicago Auto Show.

CHICAGO (WLS) — The nation’s largest auto show continues to showcase vehicles from nearly three dozen automakers.

Ahead of the glitz and glamor of day two of the 117th Chicago Auto on Sunday, avid athletes and auto aficionados went the extra mile at McCormick Place for the Miles Per Hour Run.

This year, the 2025 Chicago Auto Show marks it’s 117th year.

The very unique endurance event started at 8 a.m., and participants had one hour to cover as much distance as they could in 60 minutes.

“We try to run lots of different races throughout the Chicago area and this one seemed unique and fun and I’m looking for a new car, so why not,” runner Sharie Behnke said.

The first run was held in 2020 and brought back in 2023 and is entirely indoors.

“Where else can you go and run with cars, check out the cars while you’re running, run with friends,” runner Frannie Cramton said.

There were 750 runners and walkers, the most ever, from all walks of life. They took on the nearly 2.5 mile loop, weaving through the stunning auto show floor.

“You’re going to see people whizzing by but then you’re going to see 11-minute pace all the way to walkers,” said Tim Bradley, Executive Director of the Chicago Area Runners Association. “That’s why we put on events like this to get all ability levels moving and running and just living a healthy lifestyle.”

All of that hard work paid off at the end of 60 minutes, with each person taking home hard-earned hardware.

“Oh, it was great. I run the Chicago and the Boston Marathon, but this is just such a unique race,” runner Mark Buciak said.

Others, like Daisy Rivera, said there’s just nothing quite like running past the latest and greatest on the road.

“Going through the actual race track, it’s pretty awesome,” Rivera said. “It gives you that extra boost of energy to be able to add to the experience.”
