Chicago White Sox sign outfielder Michael A. Taylor to a 1-year, $1.95 million contract​on February 12, 2025 at 2:07 am

GLENDALE, Ariz. — The Chicago White Sox added another veteran to their outfield options on Tuesday by signing Michael A. Taylor to a one-year, $1.95 million contract, a source confirmed to the Tribune.

Taylor, 33, has a .235/.290/.381 slash line with 136 doubles, 100 home runs and 353 RBIs in 1,082 career games during parts of 11 major-league seasons with the Washington Nationals (2014-20), Kansas City Royals (2021-22), Minnesota Twins (2023) and Pittsburgh Pirates (2024). He won a World Series with the Nationals in 2019.

He played in 113 games with the Pirates last season, hitting .193 with nine doubles, five home runs and 21 RBIs.

Taylor earned an American League Gold Glove Award in 2021 as a center fielder.

Taylor provides depth for the Sox, who also signed outfielders Austin Slater and Mike Tauchman during the offseason. Slater and the Sox came to terms on a one-year, $1.75 million deal in November. The Sox signed Tauchman to a one-year, $1.95 million contract in December.
