EXCLUSIVE: Sweet Tooth‘s Christian Convery is set to lead (Saint) Peter, a coming-of-age dramedy, exec produced by Peter Farrelly, about how hard it is to be the younger brother of a possible saint.
Joining him in the stacked cast is Shōgun Emmy winner Anna Sawai, along with Pete Holmes and Judy Greer of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, What We Do in the Shadows‘ Harvey Guillén, and Douglas Hodge (G20).
Convery’s character, Peter Blanes, is a freshman in high school, and if that isn’t hard enough, people now believe his older brother Jimmy is a holy saint. To cope with his life, Peter seeks refuge with an eclectic group of new friends.
Sawai plays Catholic nun Sister Theresa, with Holmes and Greer as Peter’s parents, Guillén as aspiring journalist Daymon Grundy, and Hodge as Peter’s basketball coach, Coach Phillip. The film is currently in production in Salt Lake City, Utah, under the direction of Josh Klausner, a veteran studio screenwriter with credits like Date Night who’s working from his own script. Naomi Despres and Jennifer Goodridge are producing.
