FORNEY, Texas — A multisport facility could be coming to Forney soon, as the city announced a partnership with the Dallas Stars

According to a news release from the city, the proposed Stars-branded multisport complex would be built to assess the recreational needs of the growing residential population. It could feature multiple volleyball, basketball and pickleball courts, a sports clinic, a restaurant and even an ice-skating rink.

“Forney has emerged as one of North Texas’ most exciting and fast-growing communities,” Dallas Stars President and CEO Brad Alberts said in the news release. “Our collaborative partnerships with cities have allowed our Children’s Health StarCenters and RYSE Energy Multisport facilities to serve families across North Texas, and we are very interested in exploring how a similar facility could serve the families of Forney and the surrounding area.”

Now, while this facility sounds like it’d be a lot of fun to use, it’s not across the finish line yet. The city of Forney said it has to conduct a “comprehensive feasibility study” to learn whether or not this is possible and what kind of complex would best suit the community.

Forney Mayor Jason Roberson expressed his excitement for the idea and the city’s next steps in the plan.

“We’re always exploring ways to enhance the quality of life for our residents,” Roberson said in the press release. “Exploring a partnership with the Dallas Stars is an exciting step toward bringing more recreational options to our community, and we’re eager to see what this feasibility study reveals.”
