Proclamations: Welcoming Week

Mayor Jackie Clayton proclaimed Sept. 12 to 21 as Welcoming Week in Grande Prairie. Welcoming Week is an annual campaign and celebration to showcase the movement of communities striving to be more welcoming places for all.

Rail Safety Week

Mayor Jackie Clayton proclaimed Sept. 15 to 21 as Rail Safety Week in Grande Prairie. Rail Safety Week aims to educate and inform the community about rail safety, raising awareness to save lives and prevent injuries in communities.

Alberta Community Partnership grant application – GPREP

Council supported the application for an Alberta Community Partnership grant with the City as the managing partner for the purpose of retaining professional services to develop a Regional Volunteer Management Plan for GPREP.

Forest Resource Improvement Association of Alberta (FRIAA) grant application

Council supported the City of Grande Prairie’s grant application for vegetation management under the Forest Resource Improvement Associations (FRIAA) FireSmart Program.

Preliminary Design Costs for Paving 101 Street

Council referred $70,000 in funding for the preliminary design of paving 101 Street, from 124 Avenue to 132 Avenue, and 128 Avenue, from 101 Street to 100 Street, to the 2026 budget deliberations.

Council directed administration to execute agreements to the satisfaction of the city manager in support of the updated third-party private financing requirements of Smith Social Enterprises in respect of the 160-unit mixed-income residential development in the Smith subdivision.

Grant Funding Recommendations

Council approved funding allocations as presented for the Pursuit of Excellence grant and the Sport Hosting grant.
