The city says the deal with CUPE 79 includes annual wage increases between three and almost four per cent through 2028.

Several groups of workers, including nurse practitioners and medical dispatchers, will also get one-time wage increases to help bring them in line with market standards.

The union represents the city’s inside workers, from law clerks to family support workers.

The deal was ratified by the union this past weekend.

The agreement reached earlier this month averted a strike that could have caused the shutdown of city-run recreation and child-care centres.
