Two young men who lost their lives after a car they were travelling in crashed into a house in Co Donegal have been named locally.
Teenager Shaun McClafferty and Jamie Diver, who was in his 20s, died in the crash which took place in the village of Gortahork in west Donegal on Friday evening.
Four men were in the car at the time of the collision, with the two others being brought to Letterkenny hospital to be treated for their injuries.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses and are asking road users who were travelling in the area between 9pm and 9.30pm on Friday to make contact.
Sinn Féin TD Pearse Doherty said a “cloud of sadness” had descended on the local area over the weekend.
“Devastating news here in West Donegal last night,” Mr Doherty said.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the two young men who lost their lives and the two that were injured, their families, friends and the emergency services.
“A cloud of sadness hangs over our community once again.”
