Durham Police said on Sunday around 8:50 p.m., they responded to three consecutive robbery calls in the area of Simcoe St. N and Beatrice St. E. where the accused allegedly approached three separate victims demanding money while armed with a knife.

Officers located the suspect a short distance away after a brief foot pursuit. There were no physical injuries reported.

The charges are three counts of robbery, and one count each of disguise with intent and possess weapon for committing an offence.

HAMILTON MAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULT

A 35-year-old Hamilton man has been charged following an unprovoked assault on the mountain.

Hamilton Police said on March 11 at 1:35 p.m. a male suspect allegedly punched a woman in the face near the intersection of Upper Gage Ave. and Fennell Ave. E.

Police said an appeal for information led to several citizens coming forward with information and CCTV helped identify the suspect. On Tuesday, a man was charged with assault.

MALE SOUGHT FOR WHITBY ARMED ROBBERY

Durham Regional Police are looking for a male suspect in an armed robbery involving an elderly victim in Whitby last Thursday night.

Cops said that at around 8:40 p.m., a male suspect approached an elderly victim from behind in the area of Pilkington Cresc. and Bradley Dr. He was allegedly armed with a knife and demanded money.

Police said the victim attempted to fight off the suspect but was struck in the face and was taken to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers, including the canine and tactical units, searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect who is described as a white male, shorter than six feet tall, with a medium build and wearing a grey/black hooded sweater

MILTON MAN CHARGED WITH FRAUD

A 37-year-old Milton man has been charged following a Durham Regional Police investigation into a fraud involving lumber products valued at more than $46,000.

Cops said that between Jan. 9 and Feb. 1, 2023, a male suspect made several purchases of lumber products from an Oshawa company and arranged to have the items delivered to two separate commercial locations in Vaughan and Mississauga.

Police said an investigation revealed that the credit cards used were stolen from four separate victims.

Last Thursday, Shahbaz Paracha was charged with fraud over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and four counts of unauthorized use of credit card.

ENCAMPMENT CHECK LEADS TO CHARGES

Hamilton Police doing an encampment compliance check last Friday have charged a 31-year-old man after the discovery of stolen property allegedly strewn about the area he was staying in.

Cop said they were checking along Van Wagners Beach Rd. when they saw items they believed had been stolen including a go-cart, four Honda go-cart engines, fishing gear and valuable tools.

Charges were possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and fail to comply with probation.
