DALLAS — Classical music fans, or anyone just looking for a good reason to get out, get ready, because the Dallas Symphony Orchestra has announced the return of its annual Parks Concert Series.
The 2025 Parks Concert Series consists of five shows between May 26 and June 12 at five different Dallas parks, where the DSO will play concerts free and open to the public.
“Bringing music to our beautiful Dallas-area parks is something we look forward to every summer,” Michelle Miller Burns, Ross Perot President & CEO of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, said in a statement. “There’s nothing quite like seeing the community come together to experience the joy and magic of live music. We are truly grateful for the opportunity to share these unforgettable moments with audiences across our city.”
The first concert will be held May 26 at Flag Pole Hill, where Assistant Conductor Shira Samuels-Shragg will lead the orchestra to play patriotic songs like “America the Beautiful” and Morton Gould’s Armed Forces Salute. Other songs to be played include Bernstein’s Overture to Candide and Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture.
Sameuels-Sgragg will lead other concerts at Exall Park, Kidd Springs Park, Fretz Park and Paul Quinn College, performing classical fare like the overture to Bernstein’s West Side Story and Copland’s “Outdoor Adventure,” as well as film and TV scores from movies and shows like “E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial” and “Star Wars: The Mandalorian.”
