The Punjab government on Tuesday informed the Supreme Court of a proposal that farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who has been on an indefinite fast since November 26, would accept medical aid if the Centre spoke to the protesting farmers.

The state has also sought three more days time for compliance with the Supreme Court’s directive to shift Dallewal to a hospital.

On this, a bench of Justices Surya Kant and Sudhanshu Dhulia deferred the hearing till January 2.
