DENTON COUNTY, Texas — All northbound lanes of Interstate 35 West in Argyle were shut down following a deadly accident Tuesday afternoon, officials said. The lanes have since reopened.

According to a Facebook post from the Denton Fire Department, the accident involved an RV and four other vehicles near FM 2449. In an update, the department said seven people were taken to the hospital and one of them was pronounced dead on arrival.

According to the fire department, both directions of traffic are backed up. TxDOT cameras in the area confirmed these backups as emergency vehicles could also be seen in the southbound lanes of traffic.

Denton PD asked northbound traffic to exit at FM 2449/Vintage Boulevard as crews on the scene worked to clear the wreckage.
