Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey might be on the move.
According to multiple reports, the team and Ramsey have agreed to look into possible trade options ahead of the 2025 season.
Ramsey, 30, who signed a three-year, $72.3 million extension with Miami before the 2024 season, is under contract through 2028.
However, the deal’s guaranteed money runs out this year, and he’s set to make around $25 million in salary and bonuses next season.
Ramsey started every game for the Dolphins last year, finishing with 60 tackles, two interceptions and a sack.
It was the first time since his rookie year (2016) that he wasn’t selected to the Pro Bowl.
Ramsey was ranked No. 25 on the NFL’s Top 100 Players list, as voted by his peers ahead of the 2024 season — the highest spot of any defensive back.
The upcoming 2025 NFL Draft could give Miami a chance to trade Ramsey in exchange for picks, potentially signaling a shift in direction after missing the playoffs last season.
“Trading Jalen Ramsey for a draft pick or picks would raise his Dolphins cap hit from 16.6 M to 25.2 M (if they take the hit this year) and leave Miami with only $7 M in space – barely enough to sign a draft class and practice squad – while realistically needing 5 to 8 starters,” Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald wrote in a post on X Tuesday.
