The Calgary Police Service arrested eight people and seized a variety of drugs and weapons from a problem residence in Calgary’s Windsor Park community.

The investigation into the home began in December 2024 following a number of complaints and tips from the public about drug activity occurring in a home in the 500 block of 52 Avenue S.W.

In February, a CPS officer in the area attending another call was approached by community members expressing ongoing concerns of problematic behaviour by tenants and visitors of the residence and the impact on the community.

On Mar. 20, officers executed a search warrant at the home, removing 11 people from the residence. Seven were arrested on a variety of outstanding Criminal Code and bylaw warrants, and one on other charges.

Illegal drugs and paraphernalia were seized, including fentanyl and methamphetamine. Additionally, CPS seized weapons including, brass knuckles, a spring-loaded baton, imitation handguns, bear spray, knives and a variety of ammunition.

Brendan Bear, 33, has been charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking and five counts of failure to comply with a release order.

“This home, used as a hub for criminal activity, was near a public park and an elementary school and the activity that was occurring at this home left neighbours and families feeling extremely unsafe in their own community. We have zero tolerance for this kind of negatively impacting social disorder behaviour and drug trafficking in our communities,” said District 1 Inspector Jason Bobrowich in a news release.

CPS worked with the Alberta Sheriffs Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods (SCAN) and the Fugitive Apprehension Sheriffs Support Team (FASST) in this investigation.
