It’s currently -6 C at the Edmonton Blatchford weather station, with 18 km/h winds out of the east northeast and a wind chill of -13.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the areas of Edmonton, St. Albert, and Sherwood Park. They are forecasting heavy snowfall intermittently throughout the day, with up to 20 cm of snow by the end of the day.

They warn that the snowfall will make highways, roads, walkways, and parking difficult to navigate, with a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas.

As for the forecast, Thursday will be cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of flurries that will turn into heavy snowfall, blown in on 40 km/h winds with a high of -2 C. The snowfall will end at the stroke of midnight and turn back into a 30 per cent chance of flurries, winds staying at 40 km/h. Friday will be a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of flurries in the morning and 15 km/h winds bringing the high to -8 C.

Be careful out on the roads, and bundle up if you go outside!

Thursday: Cloudy with 30 per cent chance of flurries early this morning. Snow at times heavy, beginning this morning. Risk of freezing drizzle early this morning. Amount 10 cm. Wind east 20 km/h gusting to 40 km/h becoming north 20 km/h gusting to 40 km/h near noon. High -2 C. Wind chill near -12.

Tonight: Snow ending near midnight then partly cloudy with 30 per cent chance of flurries. Wind north 20 km/h gusting to 40 km/h becoming light this evening. Low -13 C. Wind chill -10 this evening and -16 overnight.

Friday: A mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of flurries in the morning. Wind up to 15 km/h. High -8 C. Wind chill -18 in the morning and -11 in the afternoon. UV index 2 or low.

Sunset: 7:34 p.m.
