It’s currently -19 C at the Edmonton Blatchford weather station with 5 km/h winds from the north east with a windchill of -23.

The City of Edmonton’s extreme weather response remains active until Feb. 15.

As for the forecast, Thursday will have periods of light snow blown in on 15 km/h winds, with a high of -16 C and a wind chill of -24. The snowfall will end overnight, becoming a 60 per cent chance of flurries. Friday will also have a 60 per cent chance of flurries and 15 km/h winds, with a high of -20 C and a wind chill of -30.

The city warns that, in these conditions, frostbite can occur in minutes. If you must go outdoors, remember to stay bundled up with gloves, toques, and scarves to protect your extremities!

Thursday: Periods of light snow. Wind up to 15 km/h. High -16 C. Wind chill near minus 24.

Tonight: Mainly cloudy with 60 per cent chance of flurries. Wind up to 15 km/h. Low -22 C. Wind chill near -30. Risk of frostbite.

Friday: Mainly cloudy with 60 per cent chance of flurries. Wind up to 15 km/h. High -20 C. Wind chill near -30. Risk of frostbite. UV index 1 or low.
