The city has also instituted a Phase 1 parking ban, which covers arterial roads, collector roads, bus routes (roads marked with seasonal no parking signage) and roads within business improvement areas. If you don’t move your vehicle, you might get ticketed.

You can park on roads as soon as they have been cleared and only if parking is allowed there normally.

After Phase 1 is done, the city will advise if a Phase 2 (residential and industrial parking) ban is necessary.

As for the forecast, Wednesday will be cloudy with a 70 per cent chance of flurries in the afternoon, a high of -20 C and a wind chill of -31. The flurries will turn into periods of light snow overnight, blown in on 15 km/h winds, ending in the late morning Thursday, which will have a high of -12 C and a wind chill near -22.

The city warns that, in these conditions, you can become affected by frostbite in a matter of minutes. If you have to go outdoors, remember to stay bundled up with gloves, toques, and scarves to protect your extremities!
