Arielle Konig, 36, claimed in a restraining order that her husband, 46-year-old Gerhardt Konig, sexually abused and assaulted her for months before trying to push her off the Pali Lookout, a famous panoramic vista on Oahu, People reported.

Arielle, a nuclear engineer, claimed her husband of six years had “extreme jealousy” and accused her of having an affair, she wrote in the petition.

“Since then, he has attempted to control and monitor all my communications,” she alleged, detailing that they had been attending individual and couples counselling.

Their Hawaiian getaway was a parents-only vacation, celebrating Arielle’s 36th birthday without their young children.

On March 24, Gerhardt suggested the pair hike a trail near Pali Lookout, which she described as having “narrow ridge sections with steep drop-offs on both sides,” according to the outlet.

When they were deep into their hike, Arielle said she began to feel “uneasy” and did not want to go any further.

Instead, she climbed a tree so Gerhardt, an anesthesiologist in Maui, could take a photo of her before he said they should take a selfie near the cliff’s edge.

Arielle then started feeling “dizzy” and “uncomfortable” due to how close they were to the edge and when she asked that they move away. She alleged that enraged her husband, who then “grabbed me by my upper arms and started pushing me back toward the cliff edge,” she said in the filing.

“Go back over there, I’m so f***ing sick of you,” she claimed he said, noting she initially thought he was joking.

“I quickly realized he was seriously trying to make me fall off the cliff,” she wrote in the petition.

Gerhardt then allegedly hit her on the head with rock about 10 times, while holding her by her hair and “smashing her face to the ground,” the affidavit alleges.

She alleged he grabbed two syringes out of his bag and tried to inject her with them before she was able to escape.

“I do not know what was in the syringe, but Gerhardt is an anesthesiologist and has access to several potentially lethal medications as part of his employment,” she noted in the filing.

Arielle heard two other hikers and crawled over to them, she told police.

One of the two witnesses told cops she heard Arielle screaming for help and found Gerhardt allegedly on top of his wife hitting her head — but stopped when he saw her.

Arielle was taken to a nearby medical centre in serious but stable condition, while Gerhardt was arrested later that evening following a brief foot chase by police.

He has been charged with attempted murder and is being held at the Oahu Community Correctional on a $5-million bond.
