The Flames, after salvaging a sloppy start with a 3-2 comeback victory Monday in San Jose, remain four points back of the Minnesota Wild for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

With a win over the Ducks, the Flames can ensure that Friday’s battle at the Saddledome is a biggie — they will welcome the Wild for a head-to-head matchup.

• Top prospect Zayne Parekh, fresh off a historic campaign with the OHL’s Saginaw Spirit, joined the Flames in Anaheim. The 19-year-old defenceman will be on the ice for Wednesday’s morning skate, although his debut will wait. He isn’t expected to play unless the Flames are eliminated from the race. “Hopefully I take a lot from this experience, and I know I will,” Parekh said after being called up from junior. “It means the world to me that I’m able to be around the guys.”

• Ducks netminder Lukas Dostal delivered a dynamite performance in Monday’s 3-2 home victory over the Edmonton Oilers. The 24-year-old racked up 45 saves. “I was under pressure a little bit,” he told NHL.com. “But as I always say, it’s my job and just glad we could take the win.”

• The Flames are shooting to sweep their regular-season series against the Ducks. They are three-for-three so far, having outscored the Quack Pack by a combined score of 11-4. Blake Coleman has factored on five of those goals, scoring three and adding a pair of helpers.

There is still optimism that Connor Zary (lower body) could play before the end of the season, while Justin Kirkland and Anthony Mantha won’t suit up again until 2025-26. Kirkland, who was announced Wednesday as the Flames’ nominee for the Masterton Trophy, and Mantha are both recovering from knee surgery.
