‘General Hospital’ stars organize Daytime Makes a Difference; Josh Kelly, Bradford Anderson host fans on Zoom call to raise funds for fire victims
LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Many people have been wondering what they can do to help those impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires. Well now, you can give back with the help of one of the stars of ABC’s “General Hospital.”
Some of your favorite daytime actors are getting together Sunday, January 19, for a special “Daytime Makes a Difference” fundraiser – and you can join in on the fun via Zoom!
The event is hosted by Bradford Anderson and Josh Kelly. The Zoom will feature different daytime talent, both past and present! Many, but not all of them, are from “General Hospital.”
“I was just trying to figure out what I could do,” said Kelly.
Anderson helped organize the event, and they got even more help from the folks at Coastal Entertainment.
It’s a once-in-a-lifetime gathering that will surely be lots of fun for fans.
“When we started sending out emails, we got nothing but yesses,” said Anderson. “This all happened within the last two days, so we’re just going for it, trying to do the best we can because we didn’t want to wait. There’s an immediacy in this and we wanted to just be as quick and effective as we could be.”
Kelly added, “I think everyone wants to help in the way that they can, and it’s nice to feel like we are able to help. Because 100% of the proceeds are going to the World Central Kitchen, the Pasadena Humane Society and the L.A. Fire Department Foundation.”
“General Hospital” star Cameron Mathison will be one of the many participants joining on Sunday. His Altadena home was among the many that were destroyed in the Eaton Fire.
He said he wants people to know they’re not alone.
“He wants to help,” said Kelly. “Like, that’s the thing, because he sees first-hand that he’s affected, and he cares about everyone who’s been affected, so he wants to help just like us.”
“I have to say, you know, I sent out an email from using an email list that I had from previous correspondence. He was the first person to write back and be, like, ‘Yes, whatever you need,'” said Anderson.
If you can’t be live on the Zoom, you can still buy a ticket and organizers will email you the link to watch the recording, which will be available for 14 days.
“I would have been happy if just three of us raised a couple hundred bucks, you know? Just the fact that everyone is pitching in from the past and the present and other shows, it really makes me feel good about who I work with,” said Kelly.
