Girl, 3, killed in horror city centre crash after ‘being hit by van as it rebounded off tram’

A THREE-year-old girl has been killed in a horrific city centre crash after reportedly being hit by a van that had smashed with a tram.

The child was walking on Mosley Street, Greater Manchester earlier today when she was reportedly hit by the vehicle.

The child was walking on Mosley Street earlier today when she was reportedly hit by the vehicle[/caption]

Police and Metrolink workers have been at the scene since this morning, whilst some four detectives have also been called to area.

The tram involved in the collision was travelling from Victoria to Manchester Airport, reports Manchester Evening News.

Roads are shut and public transport services have been cancelled following the incident.

This includes services operating between St Peter’s Square and Piccadilly Gardens.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Emergency services are responding to reports of a collision involving a tram and a van in Manchester city centre.

“A three-year-old girl was taken to hospital and has sadly passed away from her injuries.

“No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.”
