Girl, woman injured in fire on Chicago’s South Side​on April 7, 2025 at 1:47 pm

Two people, a 5-year-old girl and an adult woman, were injured in a residential fire in Woodlawn Monday morning, according to the Chicago Police Department.

Officials responded to the fire at the 6400 block of South Maryland Avenue around 1 a.m. The 5-year-old and the woman sustained burns to the body, police said. They were both transported to a local hospital where they are listed in good condition. The fire department extinguished the fire.

Officials did not say how the fire started.
