A Grande Prairie man who failed to comply with court orders and was subject to a warrant will answer to several new charges in the city’s Alberta Court of Justice on Dec. 10.

Kyle Louis Bird, 33, was stopped by RCMP on June 7. When they confirmed he was the subject of a warrant, and was apprehended. Police searched the vehicle after the arrest and found a cache of illicit drugs, unstamped tobacco and a firearm.

They seized 66.7 grams of meth, 28 grams of cocaine, 19 oxy pills, drug paraphernalia associated with trafficking, unstamped tobacco and a loaded handgun. The gun was confirmed to have been smuggled into Canada from Texas, USA.

Grande Prairie RCMP traffic stop leads to arrest warrant execution and drug seizure

Bird was charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking; two counts of failure to comply with an order; four firearm-related offences, possession of unstamped tobacco and possession of proceeds of crime.

The 33-year-old appeared before a justice of the peace and was released on conditions and given a new court date to answer to the charges.
