When Grande Prairie rural RCMP responded to a call about a driver slumped over the wheel of a vehicle in the middle of the road, they immediately noticed drug paraphernalia.

On Aug. 9, around 7:40 a.m., police responded to the report to find a man “heavily asleep” in the vehicle with drug related items in plain sight.

When they searched the vehicle, they found and seized:
- $2,080 in Canadian currency
- 99 grams of suspected methamphetamine;
- 19 grams of suspected fentanyl;
- drug trafficking paraphernalia;
- a loaded crossbow;
- a flame thrower; and
- a prohibited knife.
RCMP note that some of the seized drugs were found in a backpack with a “Support your local drug dealer” label.
Fraser Pearson, 40, from Dawson Creek, British Columbia was arrested and charged. He was scheduled to attend Grande Prairie’s Alberta Court of Justice on Aug 11 and faces several charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl; possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamines; two counts of failing to comply with a probation order; two counts of possesion of weapons contrary to an order; unauthorized possesion of a prohibited weapon; and, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
