‘I feel great’ – France star makes huge fitness declaration in massive Six Nations boost ahead of Ireland showdown

FRANCE No. 8 Gregory Alldritt is confident he will be fit for Saturday’s Six Nations clash against Ireland, despite being sidelined from training as a precaution.

The La Rochelle powerhouse suffered tightness before traveling to Dublin for the penultimate round of fixtures but insists he will be ready for the Aviva Stadium showdown.

Head coach Fabien Galthié had hoped Alldritt would return to training today, yet the 2023 EPCR Player of the Year was held back as a precaution as he emerged a major doubt.

However, the 27-year-old himself dismissed any concerns, declaring he is fully fit and ready for battle.

Alldritt said: “I feel good. I felt a bit of tightness yesterday, but today I felt nothing.

“The staff preferred that I didn’t train just to keep my energy for the weekend.”

His availability would be a major boost for Les Bleus as they aim to win in Dublin for just the fourth time this century.

While France await the final green light on one of their key men, Ireland also have injury concerns ahead of the crunch clash.

Tadhg Furlong faces a crucial test today to determine whether he will be fit to return after missing the entire Six Nations so far.

The Wexford man has only played once for his province since October due to a long standing calf issue.

Leinster’s tighthead prop trained fully in a scrum session yesterday, but a final decision on his availability will be made following today’s session.

Captain Caelan Doris (knee)Jack Conan (back) and Rónan Kelleher (back) also trained on Tuesday though decisions on all three will be made today.

Doris suffered a knee injury against Scotland on February 9.

Jack Conan, who stepped in for Caelan Doris in Ireland’s win over Wales in round three, is also expected to recover from the back injury that forced him off early in the second half in Cardiff.

Ireland are aiming to keep their Grand Slam hopes alive while France are eyeing taking the title from their hosts.

Kick-off is at 2:15pm on Saturday.
