The most important gift my dad ever gave me was his love; I felt it from the moment I was born. My 1970s childhood was full of love, with Dad ferrying me and my brothers to GAA matches and boxing fights. He used every opportunity he could to teach us about life — about how to tell the difference between right and wrong and about the importance of loyalty, decency and pride of place.
