Police said the collision involving a pick-up truck and a semi-truck closed the roads in the area for several hours while officers investigated the crash.

“The collision occurred near a curve in the road, and weather conditions certainly played a factor,” said Alberta RCMP Cpl.. Mathew Howell on Tuesday.

While police determined that weather conditions were the contributing cause of the collision, Howell did confirm that impairment wasn’t a factor in the collision.

Police said the driver of the semi-truck wasn’t injured in the collision.

La Corey is approximately 260 km northeast of Edmonton.

It’s been a deadly few days across the highways in central Alberta. On Friday, a 61-year-old woman from Seba Beach died in a multi-vehicle collision with a semi-tractor trailer unit that involved at least a dozen other vehicles and injured five others.

Also, a nine-year-old girl died in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 36 and Highway 13, just east of Killam.
