Transition Year students from across Ireland gathered at the LogisTYcs Skills Expo 2025, at Curragh Racecourse, Co. Kildare, for an immersive introduction to careers in logistics and supply chain. The event, a key highlight of the Department of Transport’s Logistics and Supply Chain Skills Week 2025, provided hands-on experiences, expert talks, and live demonstrations designed to inspire the next generation of industry professionals.
Students engaged in interactive exhibits, tested vehicle simulators, and connected with major industry leaders, including Musgraves, Irish Rail Freight, and Amazon. The expo also offered exciting prizes, including sustainable tech giveaways and tickets to Mondello Park’s Electrified by Opel experience. Hosted by comedian and author Colm O’Regan, the event featured insights from young logistics professionals and a special focus on women’s growing role in the sector.
Ireland’s logistics sector underpins €196 billion in exports annually and processed 47.5 million tonnes of goods through Irish ports in 2023. However, with 31% of HGV drivers over 55 and a rising demand for supply chain, green skills, and digital expertise, the sector faces urgent workforce challenges. Logistics and Supply Chain Skills Week 2025, running from 31st March to 5th April, aims to address these gaps through career fairs, expert panels, and workshops on sustainability, AI, and Ireland’s green energy transition.
With a 52% increase in logistics-related higher education enrolments since 2019, interest in the field is growing, but skills shortages remain. This initiative seeks to bridge that gap by inspiring students and professionals to explore careers in an evolving and essential industry.
Logistics Week 2025 aims to inspire students, career changers, and professionals to explore the dynamic opportunities within logistics and supply chains. The skills week emphasises diversity, green innovation, and digital transformation, showcasing how the sector is evolving to meet the challenges of the future.
