Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli made his Late Late debut to speak about his career transition from professional dancer to TV personality.

Wearing a leopard print buttoned-down shirt, the hilarious dancer came out on air and immediately walked up to Patrick saying: “Now show me your hips, have you got it?”

The Down native attempted to show off his best moves as Bruno said: “Good man. I think Jamie Dornan would do better, don’t you?”

Britain’s Got Talent, which Bruno is a judge on, is due to air its finale of the 18th season this May.

Patrick urged Bruno to “come back” to the Late Late Show after and bring the winner of the hit talent show.

The 69-year-old made sure to cut a deal worth his while and said: “We’ll I hope so, if I win. Is that a deal? Are you going to bring Jamie Dornan on?”

Patrick was left in stitches as he replied: “This is the second time… I think that’s a deal. If you bring the winner of Britain’s Got Talent, I’ll bring you Jamie Dornan.”

Comedian Dermot Whelan then joined Bruno on the hot seat to speak about his new book Busy and Wrecked.

Patrick commented on how ‘conservative’ the radio star looked beside Bruno saying: “I kind of feel like you could do with a few buttons open compared to Bruno.”

Bruno said he’d “close” a few of his buttons but got a less-than-impressed reaction from the studio audience so instead opened even more buttons.

The Italian star shouted out: “Alright, you got it… oh, no nipples!”

Dermot added: “When you got it, flaunt it! I feel kind of Victorian here.”

The pair spoke about their busy lives and meditation, to which Bruno referred to as “ding, ding, di-ding, de-bong”.

After their chat, Patrick closed the segment saying: “We’ll have a demonstration backstage, a moment of calm.”

Bruno replied: “Oh no, I’m going to have a drink.”

‘TERRIFIED’

Dermot shouted out: “Don’t leave me back stage with that, I’m terrified.”

Bruno said: “Once the cameras turn off, I’m like everyone else.”

To which Patrick added: “Well the good news is it is the time that the cameras are going to be turning off very, very soon.”

At the end of the programme, Patrick spoke to a viewer who won a whopping €15,000 and sounded very happy.

Patrick asked: “How many bottled of meditation have you had?”

The viewer said: “About three!”

Bruno and the viewer shouted funny comments back and forth at each other through the phone while on air.

Patrick said, “I have no idea what’s happening”, just as the show ended.

‘PARTY VIBES’

He wrote: “Great night at the @latelaterte last night! That lad Bruno is high energy! It was like sitting beside a 5-year-old after three bags of skittles.

“Lovely chap though and brought a ton of energy. There’s such a great buzz backstage and in the studio. Total party vibes.

“Thanks to @patrickielty for being so welcoming and managing to bring the conversation back to my book somehow.

“And to Fiona from @gillbooks for keeping me well hydrated and calm! Ross from @ambleofficial is a total sounder too. Lovely warm chap who chatted to me about the importance of music as mindfulness.

“Also great to have my bestest buddies there too. Busy and Wrecked on sale now!”
