Karen Read Docuseries Set At Investigation Discovery​on February 3, 2025 at 3:15 pm

Investigation Discovery, the network behind Quiet on Set and The Curious Case of Natalia Grace, has found is next case.

The cable network has greenlit A Body In The Snow: The Trial of Karen Read.

Read is accused of killing her boyfriend John O’Keefe, a local police officer. On a cold January morning in a sleepy suburb outside of the city, a local police officer named John O’Keefe was found dead on a fellow officer’s front lawn. Authorities, citing a toxic dynamic between O’Keefe and his girlfriend, Read, immediately narrowed in on Read as their main suspect. They alleged Read backed into O’Keefe with her car in a fit of passion and then left him to die in the snow – but Read maintains her innocence with her defense alleging something far more nefarious was at play.

A 2024 trial ended in a mistrial and a re-trial is planned for April. The docuseries examines the investigation and theories through access to key figures, as well as perspective into Karen’s mindset during the 2024 trial.

The series was announced by ID boss Jason Sarlanis at a Deadline-moderated panel at Realscreen in Miami.

It will air over three nights starting on March 17.

A Body In The Snow: The Trial of Karen Read is produced by Unsolved Productions, the production company founded by Unsolved Mysteries co-creator Terry Dunn Meurer. It marks Dunn Meurer’s first longform docuseries.

ID President Jason Saralanis told Deadline, “If you are in the New England area of America, you’re probably already obsessed with [this case]. If you’re outside of the Boston metropolitan area, you’ve probably never heard of it before, and it’s incumbent on us to turn it into the next case that everyone’s talking about.”
