I hope we haven’t forsaken civility and the basic philosophy that we are all entitled to have opinions. That can get lost if we aren’t vigilant. Canadians should be above name-calling and deliberate offensiveness. If your opinion differs from mine, I’d still like to hear yours. Maybe you will change my mind. We care about the same things. I respect all Canadians, and nationwide, we’re trying to make the best choices for our country. Peace and love to you, brothers and sisters. Go Canada!

Jason Bishop

(An important message.)

Strength in diplomacy

I am tired of the chattering classes all squawking about Danielle Smith’s approach to the United States. I am reminded of the U.S. President Teddy Roosevelt, who said, ‘Walk softly but carry a big stick.’ Our premier has a huge stick in the form of reciprocal energy sanctions, but she is correct in her continued diplomatic approaches to U.S. influencers and politicians. She is not afraid to swing the stick, but with all the waffling back and forth coming from Trump, now is not the time.

(We hope the diplomatic approach works well.)

No state

Trump has got to face the fact that he will never get Canada as the 51st state. We are not willing to give up the luxuries (health care, low taxes, low prescriptions etc.) that he wishes were affordable in the U.S. As far as Greenland, I think they will be siding with Canada because we let them live their own lives and not be taxed to death.  Good Luck with your bloated ego!

Joan Bover

(Stand strong.)

You get what you vote for

I just want to say if you want to be robbed, if you want to be homeless, if you want the economy to be destroyed by the same people that brought you higher prices on everything and keep telling you you need to pay even more money in taxes and in carbon tax, and tell you you just don’t understand, you’re really getting more money back, well then, I guess you have but one choice… vote Liberal and all you wishes will come true!

Heinz Rolf

(Not sure that’s a solid pitch for the Grits.)
