An Energy East pipeline to Tidewater, New Brunswick, to successfully allow Canada to ship oil and LNG to Europe, is now as essential to our nation as the national railway was to the creation of Canada at the time of Confederation. This game-changer for the independence and prosperity of Canada can save us from the insecurity of Trump. The question is now, not which federal party will build the Energy East pipeline, but which Federal Party will build it the fastest?
Chris Robertson
(It’s a key piece for national unity and prosperity.)
Matter of trust
Rick Bell hit the nail on the head regarding the AHS scandal. Who in their right mind will trust an investigation into the actions of the government, by the government and then reviewed by that same government? So many things are concerning in all this. The most troubling for me is the allegation that the contracts awarded were more expensive than other providers. Smith told us right out of the gate that AHS was wasting money. If this turns out to be true, it will be the ultimate betrayal, that our healthcare costs were higher than necessary so that the government-favoured suppliers could make more money. SA public inquiry is needed and now! Disgusting!

Trade tactics
Average Canadians are clearly not the sharpest tools in the shed! A recent poll shows that over three-quarters support restricting oil and gas exports to the U.S. as a trade war tactic. While those of us in the west are cool with that, Canadians in Ontario and Quebec might want to give this strategy a second thought. That a large percentage of their overall fuel supplies come from Western Canada and have to travel through pipelines in the states, guess what’s the first thing President Trump will do once these export bans are imposed?
Al Willey
(The premier isn’t exactly a fan of the idea of withholding oil exports either.)
Don’t come after Canada
I agree we need to stop fentanyl, not just in the U.S., but here, too. If the components are being sent here from China and the drug is manufactured here, then the same thing is happening in the U.S. It’s time for our governments to collaborate instead of being adversaries.
Richard Strange
(The tariffs will devastate entire sectors of our economy. That also threatens our sovereignty.)
