People respond to enforcement of parking bans, not so much to Edmonton city council’s kind suggestion to remove their vehicles during a snow ban. Council have instigated staff research into the issue to be completed by the end of June 2025. At that time, the trees will be in full leaf, the snow will be long gone and the report will gather dust on someone’s desk. I can tell you how to solve this issue by tomorrow. For many years, local towing companies removed vehicles for snow-clearing operations and did so in a timely manner ahead of the plows. It was called tag and tow. The glitch with that system was the tag — the towing operators were hindered by the fact that the city couldn’t or wouldn’t find the time to tag the vehicles, a 5-minute process. The towing operators were and are ready to work, but had to sit on their hands until the ticket was placed. The article also suggests that “ the City didn’t have enough resources to tow all the vehicles that were ticketed.” I believe this to be false. One call to established and honest companies would put 30 trucks in play immediately if the city did their diligence. Immediately being tomorrow, not June. Send the trucks out in fleets of 3-5. Hook on to the first 3 or 5 cars, and watch the remaining cars get moved very quickly by the owners who scoff at the existing law, but understand the reality of no vehicle for the rest of that day.

A deal for Alberta
The time for Alberta is now. We don’t get many chances whereby there is so much focus on trade and the true picture of the inner workings of Canada. The time for Alberta to expect tidewater for our resources must be realized. Or sadly for economic survival and any hopes for prosperity, we must chart a path that gives Alberta the best chance to succeed. What kind of country would prevent its citizens from achieving economic vitality? And why would Alberta want to be a part of that?

(A strong Alberta means a strong Canada.)
