I am in total agreement with Premier Smith when she says she’d prefer to stay in Canada but with a much fairer deal. For way too long Alberta has been subjugated to the whims of not only the federal government, but to the demands of eastern Canada. It only makes sense that the First Nations people who call Alberta home are against any form of separation from the federal government. They pretty much depend on the feds for everything from housing and infrastructure to their daily financial needs in the form of monthly incomes. When Premier Doug Ford of Ontario states that he prefers a united Canada what he’s really saying is he prefers a united Canada as long as the east is in control. If he was serious about national unity he would back Smith’s demands for change rather than taking cheap shots at her in the media. A sovereign Alberta within Canada is much more preferable than total independence or some sort of notion of joining the U.S., but for that to happen Ottawa has got to change its attitude, and fast!

Party it up on July 4, Alberta
Alberta loves to party! I’m encouraging all Albertans to have fun on Friday, July 4, and enjoy a wonderful Independence Day party. Communities and bars can all have fun with the Best Uncle Sam Costume Contests or Donald J. Trump Look-A-Like contests. The perfect meal for your celebration is Alberta beef and American apple pie. In the evening, let’s have some dancing with country music from Nashville. God bless America and God bless Alberta. Now let’s party!

Carney calls on Charles
So elitist Mark Carney needs King Charles to come here to deliver the throne speech? Why the heck do we even have a governor general, who is supposed to represent the monarchy? I guess she is just paid to go on extravagant trips that accomplish nothing for Canada. To me, Carney’s main loyalty will be to the United Kingdom before Canada. After all, he holds citizenship there. It also demonstrates to me Carney’s disregard for taxpayers. I’m sure Charlie won’t be paying for his trip.

(We don’t mind King Charles dropping in for a visit and addressing parliament, but we’re more concerned with the content of this particular throne speech)
It ain’t over…
I guess the same baseball edict by Yogi Berra applies to hockey now. My father always quoted Yogi Berra that “it ain’t over ‘til it’s over.” The Edmonton Oilers miraculously beat the Kings, placing them in Round 2 of the playoffs. The Winnipeg Jets proved that edict too in Game 7 by tying the game with only 1.6 seconds left. The Jets went on to beat the Blues in double overtime.
