Man, 78, dies in Englewood fire, police say​on April 5, 2025 at 9:29 pm

A 78-year-old man died in a fire Saturday afternoon in the Englewood neighborhood, according to Chicago police. 

Officers responded around noon to a fire at a home in the 5700 block of South Princeton Avenue, police said. The man, whose identity has not yet been released, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 12:26 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday.

The Chicago Fire Department could not immediately be reached for comment.

The man was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
