Man charged with wounding with intent following ‘serious assault’ in east Belfast

A 45-year-old man has been charged to court on suspicion of wounding with intent following a report of a ‘serious assault’ in east Belfast.

The incident was reported to have taken place in the Paxton Street area on Sunday.

He is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates’ Court on April 7 and all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm but has since been released on bail to allow for further police enquiries.

Detectives say their enquiries into the incident are ongoing and they are continuing to appeal for information.
