Man dies in Ashburn crash, police say​on March 9, 2025 at 3:56 pm

A man died in a crash Saturday night in Ashburn after striking another vehicle, according to Chicago Police.

Police said they responded to a crash at the 3400 block of West 79th Street around 10:33 p.m. March 8. A man in his 40s was traveling westbound in a black sedan when the vehicle struck a blue hatchback that was traveling in the same direction.

The driver of the sedan suffered severe trauma from the crash, police said. He was treated by the Chicago Fire Department, but was pronounced dead on scene. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet identified him.

Police said there were two people inside the blue hatchback who fled the scene before officers arrived. It is unknown if they sustained any injuries.
