Man jailed for ‘vicious attack’ on woman in park avoided prosecution for disposing of knife used in Longford murder after he turned state witness

A man who launched an “utterly ­terrifying” and unprovoked attack on a defenceless woman in a public park, previously disposed of a knife which was used in the murder of a man, it can be revealed.
